The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET) in Visakhapatnam, to be housed in the state-of-the-art Super ECBC building.
With a proposed investment of ₹100 crore, the initiative will be jointly funded by APGENCO, APTRANSCO, and other state power utilities. CoEET will be registered as a society and developed through collaborative partnerships with academia, industry, startups, and policy think tanks.
Key Objectives:
Serve as a hub for clean energy innovation, research, skill development, and policy support
Focus areas include:
Renewable energy, Energy storage systems, Smart grids, EV charging infrastructure, Green hydrogen, AI/ML in energy applications
Planned Impact:
Support for 10+ clean energy startups, Training of 1,000+ professionals through certification courses, internships, and fellowships, Completion of 20+ research projects over five years, Direct contributions to state and national energy policy formulation
The CoEET is poised to become a critical enabler in Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy transition, positioning Visakhapatnam as a regional leader in sustainable energy innovation.
