In a major step to strengthen power infrastructure in Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir, the government has sanctioned the construction of a 50 MVA, 132/33 kV grid station at Mendhar.
The project, estimated at ₹49 crore, is expected to significantly improve the region’s power supply network. Once commissioned, the grid station will enhance voltage regulation, reduce transmission losses, and ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply, effectively addressing frequent breakdowns and outages.
The new grid station is also expected to play a vital role in the socio-economic development of this border area. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to equitable development, particularly in hilly and border regions, and is aimed at improving quality of life while supporting overall growth in Mendhar.
