Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) is set to add 3 GW (3,000 MW) of solar power by the end of this year, investing between USD 1.5 to 2 billion. This expansion aims to boost its total capacity at the Khavda site in Gujarat to 7 GW. Recently, AGEL successfully operationalized 693 MW of renewable energy projects, raising its Khavda capacity to 3.7 GW.
Following this addition, AGEL’s total renewable energy capacity will reach 15 GW. The Khavda facility, which spans 538 sq. km (roughly the size of Mumbai), is a key part of AGEL's broader strategy to generate 26 GW of solar power and 4 GW of wind power by 2029, with an investment of INR 1.5 lakh crore. This plant is expected to produce 81 billion units of electricity annually, enough to power 16.1 million homes, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 58 million tonnes per year.
As part of its backward integration efforts, the Adani Group has set up a 4 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility at Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone near Mundra port. Expansion plans are already underway to scale this capacity to 10 GW to meet the growing demand.
