₹1,700 Cr Road Overhaul: GBA White-Topping on the Fast Lane.

Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure (B-Smile) Chief Engineer Raghavendra Prasad has announced that white-topping work on major roads within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits is being accelerated.

The project covers 161.78 km across 16 packages with an estimated budget of ₹1,700 crore—₹800 crore from state government grants and ₹900 crore from Escrow funds. Work is already underway on 104 roads, spanning 145.68 km across 14 packages at a cost of ₹1,487 crore. Tenders are also being processed for an additional 14 roads covering 16.1 km. Contractors have been instructed to enforce strict safety measures throughout the execution.

From 2016 to 2023, white-topping was completed on 47 roads totaling 124.17 km. Looking ahead, a proposal is being drafted for 488 km of road works planned between 2025 and 2028. However, delays in obtaining permissions and relocating pipelines continue to pose challenges, though coordinated efforts are ongoing to expedite progress.
