Mega Infrastructure Push: Gorakhpur Link Expressway Now Open!

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Gorakhpur Link Expressway on 20 June 2025, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure development. Spanning 91.35 km and built at a cost of ₹7,283.28 crore, the expressway connects National Highway-27 in Gorakhpur to Salarpur in Azamgarh, providing a direct link to the Purvanchal Expressway.

This access-controlled, four-lane expressway—with future provision for expansion to six lanes—passes through four districts: Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh. It is expected to significantly reduce travel time to key locations including Urwa, Dhuriyapar, Khajni, and Belghat.

Equipped with advanced traffic management systems, the route features CCTV surveillance, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), and speed monitoring technologies to enhance safety and efficiency.

The project was executed in two construction packages:

APCO Infratech built the 48.317-km stretch from Jaitpur to Phulwaria

Dilip Buildcon completed the 43.035-km section from Phulwaria to Salarpur

Land for the project was acquired from 172 villages, covering a total of 1,148.77 hectares.

With the Gorakhpur Link Expressway now operational, Uttar Pradesh has seven functional expressways, five of which have been completed in the last eight years, underscoring the state’s aggressive push toward modern road infrastructure and regional connectivity.
