Lucknow-Kanpur: Get Ready for the Super-Expressway

The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway, a 63-km, six-lane access-controlled corridor (expandable to eight lanes), is nearing completion and is set to cut travel time between the two cities to just one hour.

Designated as National Expressway 6, the route runs parallel to NH 27, passing through key locations such as Bani, Kantha, and Amarsas, and terminating near Azad Marg in Kanpur. According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), only minor finishing works remain, with full completion expected by 30 November 2025 and formal inauguration to follow shortly after.

Over ₹800 crore has been allocated for land acquisition across 42 villages. The expressway also intersects with the Ganga Expressway in Unnao, enhancing regional connectivity. Key infrastructure includes five toll plazas, three rest areas equipped with medical facilities, and six entry/exit ramps. While most of the expressway is ready, an 18-km elevated stretch in Lucknow is still under construction, marking the final phase of the project.
