To strengthen road connectivity to Kochi’s Infopark, especially its upcoming Phase-III campus, the Kerala government is exploring an extension of the proposed greenfield elevated highway from Vyttila to Chittethukara in Kakkanad, linking it further to the planned Angamaly–Kundannoor bypass of NH-544.
The proposed eight-lane elevated corridor is envisioned to establish a direct link between NH-66 and NH-544, significantly enhancing access to critical IT hubs, residential zones, and future urban developments in the region. According to Infopark CEO Sushanth Kurunthil, discussions are being scheduled with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to evaluate project feasibility.
The National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC) has initiated a feasibility study following a formal request from Infopark.
The urgency for enhanced infrastructure is further underscored by the proposed Kizhakkambalam township project, anticipated to attract investments of around ₹25,000 crore and generate over six lakh employment opportunities, both direct and indirect.
As part of the revised approach, officials are also considering shifting the starting point of the highway from Vyttila Junction to a less congested stretch between Vyttila and Chakkaraparambu on NH-66, to ease traffic integration and streamline construction.
