Assam’s Connectivity Boost: ₹15,431 Cr NH-15 Upgrade Approved

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has welcomed the Centre's massive ₹15,431 crore approval for the expansion and upgradation of the Baihata Chariali–Mission Chariali–Tezpur stretch of NH-15. Hailing it as a milestone for infrastructure-led growth, the CM noted that modernizing this vital corridor will drastically improve connectivity between Guwahati, Sonitpur, upper Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Beyond easing traffic congestion and reducing transit times, the upgraded highway is set to act as a catalyst for economic development—enhancing access to commercial, educational, and tourist hubs. The Assam government emphasized that this mega-project aligns with the Centre's ongoing focus on the Northeast, playing a pivotal role in attracting fresh investment, creating jobs, and fostering balanced regional growth.
