Amaravati’s ₹40,887 Crore Road to the Future

The Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked ₹40,887 crore for the development of trunk roads in the Amaravati Capital Region, State Minister for Urban Development Ponguru Narayana informed the State Assembly.

Responding to queries from legislators, the Minister said a 96-km Inner Ring Road (IRR) has been proposed, comprising both eight-lane and four-lane stretches, with completion targeted for March 2027.

He added that the project funding has been secured through a combination of international and domestic financial institutions. The IRR will be implemented in two phases: the first phase will span 67 km from Ketanakonda to Nunna, while the second phase will run from Nunna to Ketanakonda, traversing the forested Kondapalli region.

The initiative forms part of the state’s wider infrastructure strategy aimed at improving connectivity and driving the growth of the Amaravati Capital Region.
