The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing to commence partial operations on the long-awaited Yellow Line between RV Road and Bommasandra by the end of August 2025, deploying three trains in the initial phase.
This first stretch will serve seven stations: RV Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, Kudlu Gate, Hosa Road, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, and Bommasandra. Trains will run at an initial frequency of 20 minutes. The 19-km fully elevated corridor, which includes 16 stations in total, was originally scheduled for completion in December 2021 but has faced multiple delays.
In response to mounting public and political pressure, BMRCL Managing Director M. Maheshwar Rao recently confirmed that operations will begin before August 15.
A BMRCL source indicated that five additional CBTC-based trains are expected from manufacturer Titagarh by October, which will enable the corporation to reduce the headway to 8–9 minutes across the entire corridor. The fourth train is slated for delivery by mid-August.
The commencement of services is contingent upon the receipt of the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certificate, followed by mandatory inspection and clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).
