Telco Trio Urges MMRCL to Greenlight Indoor Metro Networks

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have supported Reliance Jio in seeking immediate approval to operate an indoor mobile network on Mumbai’s underground metro corridor, the Aqua Line.

In a joint communication, the telecom operators urged Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited to permit service providers to either deploy a new In-Building Solution (IBS) network or utilize the existing infrastructure to avoid further delays in restoring cellular connectivity.

The request comes after MMRCL terminated its earlier agreement with third-party provider ACES and initiated a fresh tender process for setting up the IBS network along the Aqua Line.
