Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, announced that the Central government is funding railway projects worth Rs 42,219 crore in Telangana, urging the state government to accelerate land acquisition for their timely completion.
Over the past 11 years, under the Modi administration, 444 km of railway lines have been doubled, tripled, or quadrupled, and 1,890 km have been electrified. With only a few works still underway, Telangana’s rail network is now almost fully electrified.
At the historic Kacheguda Railway Station, built in 1916 in Indo-Gothic style, the Minister inaugurated Rs 2.23 crore worth of new façade lighting. The station is also undergoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, with a total outlay of Rs 421.66 crore. Across the state, 40 stations are being upgraded under the scheme at a cumulative cost of Rs 2,750 crore.
Highlighting broader railway progress, the Minister stated that Telangana’s rail network has tripled since 2014, with Rs 30,832 crore sanctioned and Rs 5,337 crore allocated in the current fiscal year. He also mentioned significant infrastructure projects like the wagon manufacturing unit at Kazipet.
In a gesture of recognition, Minister Reddy also felicitated members of the ‘Kachi Welfare Sangham’, celebrating their longstanding association with Kacheguda station.
