Revolutionizing Rail: Lucknow's New Vande Bharat Maintenance Hub

Northern Railway is establishing a dedicated maintenance hub for Vande Bharat trains in Lucknow to boost efficiency, punctuality, and service quality for high-speed rail operations in the region.

The facility is being developed at the upcoming North Coaching Complex in Charbagh and will serve as a key servicing center for Vande Bharat trains. During a site inspection on July 10, 2025, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar Verma reviewed the progress. The hub will be equipped with modern infrastructure, including maintenance pit lines, electric sheds, advanced water supply systems, and integrated waste and water management facilities.

Once operational, the hub will enable local maintenance, reduce turnaround times, and enhance the reliability of train services. DRM Verma noted that the project aligns with broader plans to ready Lucknow station for future high-speed rail traffic. He also conducted a window trailing inspection of the Lucknow–Jaitipur section on the Lucknow–Kanpur line, assessing safety features, signaling systems, level crossings, and passenger amenities.
