Pink Line's Heavy Lift: Major Milestone Achieved at Jogeshwari

Mumbai Metro Line 6 (Pink Line) has achieved a major milestone with the successful installation of a 42-metre steel composite span over active Western Railway tracks near Jogeshwari. The complex operation was completed within a 10-hour traffic block, marking progress on one of the most challenging sections of the corridor.

The Pink Line, part of Mumbai’s expanding metro network, has reached 87.7% completion in civil works, with only a few critical stretches remaining over the Western and Central Railway lines, as well as at the Kanjurmarg car shed.

The span installation involved constructing a pier within an active railway zone and deploying hydraulic cranes to position the 168.96-tonne structure at a height of 10–12 metres above track level. The work was carried out with minimal disruption to train services, staying within scheduled operational limits.

With this key crossing now complete, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is exploring the possibility of phased operations to allow early access for commuters, while work continues on the remaining sections.
