Patna Metro Tracks Ahead: Malahi Pakri Station Ready for Launch

Patna Metro is set to expand its services up to Malahi Pakri station, providing a major boost to urban transportation in Bihar’s capital. The move follows approval from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), paving the way for passenger operations on the remaining section of the Blue Line’s priority corridor.

The newly developed elevated station at Malahi Pakri has successfully completed trial runs and is fully prepared for commercial operations. According to the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC), the station is expected to be inaugurated shortly, completing the priority corridor and extending metro connectivity deeper into eastern Patna.

Situated in the densely populated Kankarbagh area, Malahi Pakri is a strategically important station on Corridor II (Blue Line), which will eventually link Patna Junction with the Patliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The station features modern facilities, including CCTV monitoring, advanced security systems, baggage scanners, ticketing counters, lifts, escalators, and infrastructure designed for differently abled passengers.

The priority corridor covers approximately 6.5 km of elevated track between Malahi Pakri and New ISBT, with five stations along the route — Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and New ISBT. The first phase of operations began in October 2025 with the opening of the 3.6 km Bhootnath–New ISBT section, introducing Bihar’s first metro service.

With the addition of Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak, the entire priority corridor is poised to become operational, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time across eastern parts of the city. Khemnichak is also set to play a crucial role as an interchange station between Corridor I (Danapur–Khemnichak) and Corridor II, with full operations expected by the end of 2026.

Officials confirmed that trial runs on the Bhootnath–Malahi Pakri section were successfully completed under the supervision of CMRS and experts from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. All civil, electrical, structural, and safety-related works have been completed, enabling seamless integration with the existing operational network. Metro services up to Malahi Pakri are expected to commence soon, offering commuters a faster and more efficient travel option.
