Patna Metro on Fast Track: CM Demands August 15 Launch

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing Patna Metro Rail Project on Wednesday, visiting key sites at Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath metro stations. Emphasizing the urgency of the project, he directed officials to accelerate construction work to ensure that operations on the priority corridor begin by August 15.

During the visit, Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD), briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of the project. The priority corridor, stretching from Malahi Pakadi to the Pataliputra Bus Terminal, is currently focused on completing a crucial 6.20 km segment connecting Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and the terminal. The state government has already sanctioned ₹115.10 crore for this phase.

At Malahi Pakadi metro station, Singh also highlighted the upcoming commuter facilities, which include escalators, lifts, ticket counters, passenger amenities, designated public and paid areas, and convenient platform access.

Reaffirming his commitment to timely execution, Chief Minister Kumar stated, “We have been continuously inspecting the construction work and have instructed officials to ensure its timely completion to ease commuting for the public.”

The push for an August 15 rollout reflects the government's strong intent to modernize Patna’s urban transit system and significantly enhance daily mobility for residents.
