Maha Metro has submitted a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed elevated metro corridor from Bhakti Shakti Chowk to Chakan to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for further evaluation.
Under the updated proposal, the corridor length has been extended to 47.2 km—an increase of 5 km from the earlier 42.2 km—and the number of stations has risen from 31 to 34 with the addition of three new stops. Key alignment modifications in areas such as Bhosari MIDC, Landewadi, and Bhosarigaon are aimed at enhancing connectivity across major industrial and residential hubs, improving overall commuter accessibility.
Due to these changes, the estimated project cost has increased to Rs 12,937 crore from the earlier Rs 10,383 crore. A notable feature of the revised plan is the inclusion of a 17-km double-decker flyover between Bhosari and Chakan, to be developed in coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The proposal also involves the demolition and reconstruction of the existing Bhosari flyover to align with the new infrastructure design.
Following review and approval by PCMC, the DPR will be forwarded to the state government for final clearance. Once implemented, the project is expected to significantly improve urban mobility and strengthen connectivity in the fast-growing Pune–PCMC industrial corridor, while contributing to long-term regional infrastructure development.
