The strategic 18 km Mohali–Rajpura railway corridor has entered its land acquisition phase. To facilitate the project, approximately 73 hectares of land will be acquired across 13 villages located in the Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala districts.
Statutory acquisition is moving rapidly, with notifications under Section 20-A of the Railways Act, 1989, officially published for all designated villages. Further statutory notices under Section 20-D have been issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Banur and Mohali for six villages, alongside advanced acquisition activities in Rajpura.
Approved by the Railway Board in 2025 with a budget of ₹443 crore, the final alignment and land requirements for the corridor were determined through high-precision drone LiDAR aerial surveys.
