A New Era for Indian Transit: BEML Partners with TuTr Hyperloop

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), a Defence PSU, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TuTr Hyperloop, an IIT Madras–incubated deep-tech startup, to jointly develop India’s first indigenously designed Hyperloop transportation system.

Under the partnership, BEML will act as the principal manufacturing partner, supporting the development of a prototype pod capable of transporting both passengers and cargo at high speeds. The system will integrate magnetic levitation (Maglev) and linear induction motor (LIM) technologies into its propulsion architecture.

The MoU was signed by senior representatives of both organisations. IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti underscored TuTr Hyperloop’s mission to translate cutting-edge research into transformative mobility solutions.

This collaboration marks a key step toward building a commercial-scale, indigenous Hyperloop system in India.

Hyperloop is a futuristic high-speed transport concept where pods travel through sealed, low-pressure tubes using Maglev and LIM propulsion, offering rapid, efficient, and sustainable travel for long-distance passenger and freight movement.
