The 30 GW Shift: NTPC Goes Global on Nuclear Expansion

In a major push toward India's 2047 clean energy goals, NTPC has invited global consultants to spearhead its planned 30 GW nuclear power expansion. The chosen advisors will oversee crucial tendering and contract award processes as NTPC pivots toward Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) technology. This strategic shift follows the passage of the landmark SHANTI Act last December, which opened doors for international partnership by resolving long-standing equipment supplier liability concerns. Already in talks with global tech providers like Rosatom and EDF, NTPC views this nuclear push—alongside active ventures like the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan project—as a cornerstone of its diversification away from coal. Interested global firms have until August 5, 2026, to submit their Expressions of Interest.
