Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has directed officials to fast-track power transmission projects worth over ₹12,000 crore to reinforce the state’s electricity grid and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Led by the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTRANSCO), the initiative includes seven completed projects worth ₹155 crore, 62 ongoing works valued at nearly ₹8,000 crore, five recently awarded projects worth ₹363 crore, and 31 upcoming works estimated at ₹3,500 crore.
The Chief Secretary emphasized prioritizing critical and high-demand zones to ensure reliable power delivery across all consumer segments. He instructed departments to submit weekly progress reports, conduct third-party quality audits, and maintain close coordination with district administrations—particularly in the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) area.
During a review meeting, APTRANSCO officials reported the recent commissioning of 220 kV lines and bus reactors to boost grid capacity. They also noted that tendering for the 31 new projects is in progress and that all ongoing works are under strict monitoring. The state government is focused on systematically upgrading infrastructure to meet rising power demand.
