Powering Rajasthan: RAPP Unit 8 Begins Fuel Loading

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) has commenced initial fuel loading (IFL) for Unit 8 of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP) in Rawatbhata. Authorized by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), this milestone advances the 700-MWe indigenous pressurised heavy water reactor (PHWR)—the fourth in a 16-unit standardised series—toward criticality and commercial operation. The unit is on track to enter service within the current financial year.
