Powering MP: PGCIL's ₹56 Cr. Kurawar Grid Boost

Powergrid Kurawar Transmission Limited (PKTL), a subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), has received a transmission licence from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) for an interstate transmission project under the Regulated Tariff Mechanism (RTM).

Approved on October 26, 2025, the project—titled “Network Expansion at 765/400/220 kV Kurawar Substation for Drawal of Power of MPPTCL”—is estimated to cost ₹56.06 crore. The scheme aims to augment existing transmission infrastructure under PKTL’s independent TBCB project, including the addition of 13 line bays at the Kurawar substation, targeted for completion by October 2026.

Designed to facilitate power drawal for Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL), the RTM project will strengthen the region’s transmission capacity through new 220 kV and 132 kV network lines. Upon completion, PKTL will approach CERC for tariff determination.
