Oriana Power Charges Ahead with 50 MW/100 MWh BESS for RVUNL

Oriana Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Truere Knight, has entered into a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for the development of a 50 MW/100 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Heerapura Substation in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The project will be executed under a build-own-operate (BOO) model and is designed to enhance grid reliability, support peak load management, and improve energy efficiency. As a grid-scale storage solution, it will play a critical role in balancing electricity demand and supply, while also minimizing blackout risks and strengthening overall grid stability.

The total project value is ₹188.61 crore, with expected Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of ₹27 crore, based on current cost projections. The project must be completed within 18 months of the agreement’s execution.

This agreement reinforces Oriana Power’s strategic focus on clean energy solutions and its growing presence in the battery storage space. The company has confirmed that the promoter group holds no financial interest in RVUNL, and the agreement does not constitute a related party transaction.
