Greater Noida is upgrading its electricity infrastructure to meet the growing power needs of the upcoming Ecotech 16 industrial sector.
The initial phase includes the installation of 86 overhead poles along a two-kilometre stretch, connecting the area to the existing 33 kV substation in Sunpura. This will cater to the sector’s immediate power requirements, while plans are underway to build a new 220 kV substation to support future industrial expansion.
Avaada, a renewable energy firm, has requested 120 MW of power for its first phase of operations, and several other companies have submitted similar demands to the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL).
According to GNIDA officials, the overhead cabling work is nearing completion and is expected to finish by early November 2025. The upcoming 220 kV substation, designed to serve both commercial and industrial units, is slated for completion by end-2026 at an estimated cost of ₹225 crore, as confirmed by Dileep Kumar Gupta, Executive Engineer, UPPTCL.
