NTPC and the Government of Gujarat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 9, 2025, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, to explore collaboration in conventional and renewable energy sectors.
The agreement supports India's broader transition to sustainable energy and was formalised in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, and NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh.
In a parallel development, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL)—a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL)—also signed an MoU with the state government to advance renewable infrastructure. The partnership will enable the development of 10 GW of solar and 5 GW of wind energy projects across Gujarat.
This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in accelerating India’s clean energy transition and aligns with national goals for carbon reduction and sustainable power generation.
NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility, currently has an installed capacity of over 83 GW, with an additional 30.9 GW under development—13.3 GW of which is in the renewable sector. The company is targeting 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, supporting India’s Net Zero ambitions. Its portfolio spans thermal, hydro, solar, and wind, and it is actively expanding into emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, e-mobility, battery storage, and waste-to-energy.
