MP’s Mega Power Move: Three Deals, 4,000 MW, ₹60,000 Crore

Madhya Pradesh is set to sign three agreements with power developers to establish 4,000 MW of thermal power capacity, drawing an estimated investment of ₹60,000 crore.

The projects, planned for Anuppur district, were awarded by MP Power Management Company through a competitive design, build, finance, own and operate (DBFOO) bidding process. Of the total capacity, 3,200 MW was allocated under the main tender, with an additional 800 MW to be developed through a greenshoe option.

Torrent Power has been selected to develop 1,600 MW, while Adani Power and Hindustan Thermal Projects will each set up 800 MW. Together, the projects are expected to generate about 3,000 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs in the state.

Special Purpose Vehicles formed by the developers will sign Power Supply Agreements with the state government. The thermal power plants are expected to start supplying electricity by 2030, strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s power generation capacity and supporting industrial and economic growth.
