In a major infrastructure reset, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has officially annulled the tendering process for nine high-priority flyovers and elevated corridors, valued at 3,060.57 crore. Originally initiated by B-SMILE to mitigate urban congestion, the projects underwent a rigorous review by an investigative panel headed by Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao. The panel uncovered critical compliance failures—including the unauthorized inclusion of rural and railway projects that violated the 50 percent urban-work threshold, alongside breaches of National Highway standards and Karnataka Works Rules. Consequently, the GBA is restarting the process to guarantee full adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks through transparent rebidding.
