Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, is on track to achieve its production target of 139 million tonnes (MT) for the current fiscal year. By February, the company had already produced 128.13 MT and remains confident of meeting its goal. Coal dispatches during April-February stood at 125.78 MT.
Recognized for its highly mechanized mines and crucial role in India's energy security, NCL has also introduced a large-scale first aid training program for homemakers. Launched on January 26, this initiative has trained around 1,500 homemakers across various projects, promoting health and safety awareness beyond the workplace.
As a key contributor to India's energy sector, NCL supplies approximately 88% of its coal to power plants and accounts for about 15% of the country’s total coal production, supporting nearly 10% of India’s power generation.
