Mining the Future: NLC India Secures Two Major Mineral Blocks

NLC India Limited has secured composite licences for two mineral blocks in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step in its expansion into critical and strategic minerals.

The development follows the company’s participation in the Ministry of Mines’ Tranche-V auction, where it emerged as the preferred bidder for the Semhardih Phosphorite & Limestone Block and the Raipura Phosphorite & Limestone Block in Balod district in May 2025.

After winning the bids, NLC India submitted the required performance securities to the Government of Chhattisgarh in June 2025. This was followed by the issuance of Letters of Intent in September 2025, enabling the company to move forward with exploration-related activities.

In March 2026, the company submitted its Scheme of Prospecting to the state’s Directorate of Geology and Mining, outlining its plan for detailed exploration of the blocks.

Most recently, on April 24, 2026, the Mineral Resources Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh formally granted composite licences for both blocks. These licences will allow NLC India to undertake comprehensive geological exploration of phosphorite and limestone deposits at Semhardih and Raipura.

The milestone strengthens the company’s presence in the mineral resources sector and supports its broader strategy to diversify into critical raw materials essential for industrial and agricultural applications.
