On 16 September 2025, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy launched the sixth tranche of mineral block auctions, comprising 23 critical blocks—19 composite licences and 4 mining leases—across multiple states.

States involved: Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, and West Bengal
Tender document sale begins: 23 September 2025. Bid submission deadline: 01 December 2025.
This marks the continuation of India's critical mineral exploration efforts, following five previous rounds involving 55 blocks, of which 34 have been successfully auctioned to date.
Strategic Push for Mineral Self-Reliance
In addition to the auction launch, the Union Minister chaired a seminar in Hyderabad focused on the proposed Centre of Excellence under the National Critical Mineral Mission. The discussion highlighted India's strategic goals of:
Enhancing mineral self-reliance, Promoting technological innovation, Reducing import dependence in key sectors
Emphasizing the role of critical minerals in defense, electronics, and renewable energy, Minister Reddy called for a whole-of-government approach and robust public-private partnerships to strengthen the nation’s position in the global mineral supply chain.
