Mega-Project Win: L&T to Construct Key 1500 MW Bhavali PSP

Larsen & Toubro’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) business has secured a major contract from JSW Energy for the Bhavali Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Maharashtra. Strategically situated across the Nashik and Thane districts, the project will have a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW, made up of multiple smaller generating units.

Under this contract, L&T will be responsible for executing all major civil works. This includes the construction of access roads, upper and lower reservoirs, the water conductor system, pressure tunnels, and an underground powerhouse—showcasing L&T’s expertise in delivering complex, large-scale hydroelectric infrastructure.

The Bhavali PSP underscores L&T’s vital role in supporting India’s renewable energy transition. Pumped storage projects play a key role in stabilizing the power grid and enabling the integration of variable renewable sources such as solar and wind. This order further strengthens L&T’s position as a leader in heavy civil infrastructure and aligns with the country’s broader goals for sustainable energy development.
