Transforming Rajkot: CM Patel's ₹557 Cr Vision for Progress

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched a series of development projects totaling ₹557.18 crore in Rajkot as part of the state’s Urban Development Year initiative. Of this, projects worth ₹213.79 crore fall directly under the scheme. Speaking at the Pramukh Swami Auditorium, the Chief Minister emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at significantly enhancing the "Ease of Living" for residents across Rajkot city and district.

One of the key projects inaugurated was a state-of-the-art sports complex built on seven acres at a cost of ₹8.40 crore, designed to strengthen the city’s sports infrastructure.

CM Patel also reflected on Rajkot’s transformation over the past two decades, citing major developments such as the Atal Sarovar, AIIMS, the international airport, and a network of flyovers. He announced that Rajkot will be developed as one of six strategic growth hubs in Gujarat, following the Surat model. A dedicated Regional Economic Plan is currently in progress to support this vision.

Rajkot is increasingly positioning itself as a major center for MSMEs, as well as for the engineering, gold, silver, and jewellery industries, reinforcing its role as a vital economic engine for the state.
