The Big Chill: Daikin–Rechi’s New ₹547Cr Facility

On 11 February 2026, Daikin–Rechi India commenced construction of its rotary compressor manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant development for India’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector.

The joint venture, between Daikin Air-conditioning India—a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan’s Daikin Precision—and Rechi India, will invest ₹547 crore in the first phase of the project. The facility will be developed on 33.10 acres, with a built-up area of 1.33 lakh sq. m., and will house production lines capable of manufacturing two million rotary compressors annually, with potential scalability up to nine million units. Initially, the compressors will serve domestic air-conditioning brands, with plans to expand into export markets.

The ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ ceremony was led by Kanwaljeet Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin India, who described the project as a key milestone in Daikin’s localization strategy under the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. He noted that the facility would strengthen the HVAC ecosystem, promote technology transfer, and support skill development in the region.
