Saint-Gobain Eyes 100+ Indian Plants in €1B Sustainable Push

Driven by rising demand for sustainable construction, French building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain plans to scale its manufacturing footprint in India to a minimum of 100 plants over the next five years.

The company currently operates 82 facilities across the country catering to domestic and export markets, backed by a recent one billion euro investment commitment. Near-term expansion plans focus heavily on gypsum and insulation, featuring a brand-new facility dedicated to glass wool and stone wool production.

According to India Chief Executive Sreedhar N, modern sustainable construction solutions yield significant energy reductions—lowering energy consumption by up to 40 percent in India and 70 percent in Europe. By leveraging these high-performance materials to extend project lifespans, Saint-Gobain aims to strategically capitalize on India's burgeoning sustainable infrastructure and construction market.
