On 24th February 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several development projects in Bhagalpur, Bihar, with a focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and education. His visit included the formation of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations and the distribution of the 19th installment of the PM KISAN scheme.
The infrastructure projects inaugurated during the visit included the Warisaliganj-Nawada-Tilaiya rail section, worth Rs 526 crore, and the Ismailpur-Rafiganj Road Over Bridge. The ongoing construction of a four-lane bridge over the Ganga, costing over Rs 1,100 crore, was also highlighted. In the education sector, Modi announced the establishment of a Central University at Vikramshila, drawing comparisons with efforts to revive Nalanda University.
For industrial growth, the Prime Minister emphasized the upcoming power plant in Bhagalpur, which has received Central government-approved coal linkage and is expected to create significant employment opportunities. Additionally, he unveiled plans for a Rs 5,000 crore highway from Munger to Bhagalpur to Mirza Chauki, the widening of the Bhagalpur-Anshdihwa road, and the construction of a new rail line and bridge from Vikramshila to Kataria.
