The Karnataka government is planning to develop a 300-acre data centre park in Tavarekere, near Hoskote and Kolar, over the next 18 to 24 months to address the state’s growing data infrastructure demands.
The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will acquire 1,000 acres of land, with 250–300 acres earmarked for the data centre park. According to Sharath Bache Gowda, Chairman of KEONICS, the project will follow a hub-and-spoke model—anchored by a high-capacity, gigawatt-scale data centre and supported by 25–30 MW edge data centres in cities like Mysuru, Hubballi, Belagavi, and others.
The initiative aims to decentralise data infrastructure, promote digital equity across regions, and strengthen Karnataka’s digital economy beyond Bengaluru. The project has already attracted strong interest from both domestic and international players, with active support from the state’s IT and Industry departments.
