On 15 September 2026, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated, dedicated, and laid foundation stones for several Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCTs) across Gujarat to boost regional connectivity and freight capacity. The key milestones include inaugurating the Shivlakha terminal in Kachchh, dedicating terminals at Bhimasar and two other locations, and laying the foundation stone for the Linch terminal in Mahesana. To mark the occasion, the Minister also flagged off a salt-loaded freight train from Shivlakha to Mithapur. Aimed at streamlining freight movement, eliminating port bottlenecks, and increasing rail throughput, these facilities bring the total count of operational GCTs in India to 150—advancing national logistics optimization.
