GMDA Seeks 12 Acres Near Manesar for Major Bus Depot

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has requested 12 acres of land from the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Naharpur Kasan, near IMT Manesar, to develop a new bus depot and terminal.

This move is part of GMDA’s broader plan to expand its city bus fleet from 200 to 900 buses over the next three years, with 200 new buses expected by the end of 2025. A previous proposal for a depot in Bhangrola was dropped due to inadequate road width.

The proposed depot aims to ease congestion and meet rising commuter demand between Gurugram, Manesar, and adjoining areas, especially during peak hours. Currently, GMDA, through its subsidiary Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Ltd (GMCBL), operates 150 CNG buses in Gurugram and 50 in Faridabad.

The identified 12-acre plot, currently marked as “open space,” can have its land use altered for public interest. Under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme, GMDA is set to induct 200 electric buses, with another 200 to be procured independently next year. Additionally, ₹40 crore has been sanctioned for acquiring seven acres in Sector 103 for a new 100-bus depot, complementing ongoing development at Sector-48.
