BMC to Build Underground Water Tunnel Linking Pise and Panjrapur

Maharashtra state authorities have granted formal clearance to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the engineering and construction of an 8-km underground water tunnel between Pise and Panjrapur. This infrastructure initiative will supersede four vulnerable, end-of-life surface pipelines to accommodate growing regional water requirements. The project operates under the condition of complete financial self-sufficiency by the BMC, alongside mandatory compliance with rigorous geological and environmental guidelines.
