Blue Gold Rush: CM Mohan Yadav’s ₹2,500 Crore Bet on the Future

Mohan Yadav has announced a ₹2,500 crore campaign focused on water conservation and augmentation under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, calling for widespread public participation to transform it into a mass movement.

Now in its third year, the 139-day initiative will prioritise the construction of new ponds, rejuvenation of existing water bodies, restoration of wells and stepwells, canal improvements, revival of dry rivers, and development of groundwater recharge systems. The programme will also focus on maintaining over 10,000 check dams and stop dams, along with enhancing drinking water quality and sanitation.

As part of the campaign rollout, projects worth approximately ₹22 crore were initiated in Indore, including the restoration of three major ponds. The initiative aims to maximise rainwater harvesting and ensure sustainable water availability over the long term.

Officials noted that the campaign is designed to address increasing water stress across Madhya Pradesh by promoting efficient water management, conservation practices, and active community involvement, ultimately supporting equitable access and environmental sustainability.
