BITS Pilani has announced a comprehensive expansion strategy, including the launch of a cutting-edge AI+ campus in Amaravati and an investment of ₹1,219 crore to upgrade infrastructure across its Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.
The announcement was made during the 2025 convocation ceremony, where Chancellor Kumar Mangalam Birla emphasized, “These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to reimagining higher education across both physical and digital dimensions.”
The new AI+ campus in Amaravati, spanning 35 acres, will be developed in two phases with a total investment of ₹1,000 crore over five years. Phase one will accommodate 3,000 students, eventually scaling up to 7,000. Academic offerings will include master’s programs in AI and machine learning, cotutelle PhD programs, and undergraduate twinning courses. The campus will feature IoT-enabled smart infrastructure designed to support immersive and tech-driven learning.
As part of Project Vistaar, ₹60 crore will be allocated to upgrade undergraduate laboratories, with the goal of increasing BITS Pilani’s total student capacity from 18,700 to 26,000 by 2030–31.
Additionally, the institute has launched BITS Pilani Digital, offering 32 online programs to over 100,000 learners—combining flexible, remote education with real-world, project-based learning experiences.
