Japanese sportswear giant ASICS is set to deepen its footprint in India with the launch of 30 new retail stores in 2025. Building on a strong start to the year—having already opened seven outlets between January and March—the brand aims to maintain a steady pace, adding approximately three stores each month throughout the year.
A central pillar of ASICS' growth strategy is its focus on expanding into emerging markets. Over half of the upcoming stores are expected to open in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, signaling the brand’s intent to extend its reach beyond metropolitan areas and tap into the growing demand in smaller towns.
This approach builds on momentum from 2024, when ASICS opened around 15 mono-brand stores in India, the majority of which were also in tier-2 and tier-3 locations. The company currently operates 122 stores nationwide.
Rajat Khurana, Managing Director of ASICS India and South Asia, noted the brand’s strong financial performance in 2024, with Indian operations recording ₹430 crore in revenue—a 27% year-on-year increase. Looking ahead, Khurana projects over 35% growth in 2025, underscoring ASICS’ confidence in the Indian market and its mission to make high-performance sportswear more accessible across the country.
