The AP Corridor: Visakhapatnam's ₹16,482 Crore Advantage

Andhra Pradesh is poised to be the biggest beneficiary of the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor, a ₹16,482-crore infrastructure project that will dramatically cut travel time to Visakhapatnam Port—reducing it by more than half.

Slated for completion by December 2026, the corridor will strengthen connectivity between the northern districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam, and the key industrial belts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Trucks transporting minerals, agricultural produce, and containers to the port will be able to reach Visakhapatnam in just five hours, significantly lowering fuel usage and overall logistics costs.

“The corridor will provide a competitive edge to Andhra Pradesh in port traffic and value-added services,” officials said. The improved access is expected to reinforce Visakhapatnam’s position as the main export hub for central India.

Rising land values along the corridor already reflect its growing impact. The project is set to stimulate economic growth in rural and tribal regions by enhancing market access, tourism prospects, and agricultural development—making it a major catalyst for strengthening the state’s economy.
