NHAI's New Vision for the Kopargaon–Malegaon Highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the four-laning of the Kopargaon–Malegaon highway, which passes through Yevla and Manmad in Nashik district.

The project aims to reduce congestion, especially in Yevla, where the highway intersects with the Nashik–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar route. As part of the plan, the feasibility of constructing a bypass around Yevla will be studied to divert traffic from the town. "The NHAI hired a consultancy firm to prepare the project report covering options, costs, and impact assessment," an official stated.

Yevla’s existing road infrastructure, lined with shops and markets, often experiences traffic jams and accidents. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has also proposed a bypass through Babhulgaon–Angangaon–Paregaon to keep heavy vehicles out of the city.
