The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has begun work on the third phase of the Green Corridor, a project aimed at easing traffic congestion between the Cantonment area and Ayodhya and Kanpur roads.
The nearly five-kilometre-long stretch will connect Pipraghat to Shaheed Path, offering significant relief to commuters. LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar recently inspected the project site and directed the construction of a 240-metre-long, 12-metre-wide railway overbridge at the Pipraghat railway crossing, to be taken up after obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Cantonment Board. He also instructed the widening of Dilkusha Road, currently nine metres wide, to handle increased traffic once the corridor becomes operational.
The project scope further includes the construction of a four-lane bridge from Pipraghat to G-20 Road, with work expected to begin within a week. Landfilling is already underway along sections from Pipraghat to Shaheed Path, and the Vice-Chairperson stressed that all work should be completed before the onset of the monsoon. Farmers affected by land acquisition will be compensated with land in Wellness City under LDA’s land pooling policy.
