Construction has commenced on the new elevated road project connecting the Gopalpura railway overbridge (ROB) to Gurhar ki Thadi, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Jaipur.
To ensure minimal disruption during the 30-month construction period, engineers and traffic authorities have developed a phased plan under which work will proceed in 125-metre stretches at a time. Instead of blanket diversions or full closures, service lanes will merge with the main carriageway, temporarily reducing the road width by no more than five metres.
Currently, piling work is underway at two locations — near Riddhi Siddhi Circle and Triveni Tiraha.
The project’s foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on September 29, and officials have expressed confidence that construction will progress smoothly without causing major traffic disruptions.
