CM Majhi Signals Green Light for Mega 645km Economic Corridor

The Odisha government has unveiled plans to develop the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) as a fully integrated economic corridor, supported by a comprehensive infrastructure development roadmap.

As part of the plan, three ring roads with a combined length of 645 km will be constructed to improve connectivity and drive regional growth. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, at a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan, directed concerned departments to formulate a dedicated development programme to transform all cities within the corridor into “growth hubs” for industrial, commercial, and tourism activities. The proposed road network includes a 432-km Capital Ring Road connecting Paradip and Puri via Tangi, Saptasajya, and Rameshwar, aligned with the Centre’s proposed 111-km Capital Region Ring Road. In addition, a 148-km outer ring road and a 65-km inner ring road are planned.

The infrastructure roadmap also includes new railway links, notably a 32-km line between Puri and Konark and a 70-km line connecting Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapara. With direct access to Paradip Port, the corridor is expected to significantly boost manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and other allied sectors, strengthening Odisha’s economic growth.
