The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved the construction of a world-class township at Shitalpur near Chandigarh.
The township, planned in the Baddi area of Solan district, will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure and amenities. To support the project, 3,400 bigha of land will be transferred to the Housing Department, with additional private or forest land planned for acquisition. Industries Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan emphasized that the township would set new benchmarks in infrastructure development.
In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved filling 53 assistant professor posts and 121 other positions across the state’s medical colleges to strengthen healthcare services.
The Cabinet also sanctioned the establishment of a University of Multidisciplinary Studies at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district to promote a digitally skilled workforce. Additionally, a disaster risk reduction project in collaboration with the French Development Agency, valued at ₹892 crore, received approval. Amendments to the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Rules were also passed to enhance transparency in the sector.
