Northern Railway has issued a tender for the construction of a rail-cum-road bridge (Bridge No. 11) across the River Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,380.87 crore. The proposed bridge will be built approximately 50 meters downstream of the existing Malviya Bridge, near Kashi railway station, under the jurisdiction of the Lucknow division.
The project scope includes the construction of both the sub-structure and super-structure of the bridge. It will comprise eight spans of 108.5 meters and two spans of 103.3 meters, utilizing an open web steel girder design. The bridge will feature a dual-deck configuration—with the lower deck accommodating four railway tracks and the upper deck designed for a six-lane roadway.
Additionally, the project involves the development of railway and road approach infrastructure, along with overhead electrification (OHE) and general electrical works. The contract will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis.
The construction period is set at 48 months, and the last date for bid submission is 21 August 2025.
